וא"ר לוי קשה גזל הדיוט יותר מגזל גבוה שזה הקדים חטא למעילה וזה הקדים מעילה לחטא

— That [Eleh has been written] to exclude<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Since the expression of 'abomination' has been applied by the Pentateuchal text to both false measures and forbidden relatives, it might have been thought that the sin of the former is subject to kareth as the latter. Hence the need for the excluding word.
